HarborCreek Little League

HCLL 101

Welcome to HarborCreek Little League!

We are excited to have you and your family be part of this group within the Harborcreek community.

Also we understand you might have many questions regarding all aspects of what you and your family can/will experience as part of Harborcreek's long-standing community baseball/softball tradition. We do our best to keep this page current with as many answers as possible, to support you and your family's experience with HCLL.

Regarding Time

How long is the season? How often do we practice?

The Regular Season begins in mid-April and ends in mid-June. There is also an "All Star Team" (comprised of players who earn a spot on that roster), and that schedule could stretch later in the summer depending upon how well the team performs.

The practice schedules are developed independently by the coaches. Contact your team's coach regarding what to expect with practices.

Regarding Money

What about equipment costs? Anything else that might incur expenses?

The league provides a jersey and ballcap. Players will need to have:

  • Baseball/Softball pants
  • Socks
  • Cleats (no metal)
  • Baseball/Softball mitt
  • Batting helmet
  • Bat
  • Water bottle

It's common for players to bring a backpack (some are made specifically for baseball) to carry their equipment. Also some players like wearing a batting glove. Sunglasses may help, though their ballcap is often enough.

Many parents of veteran Little League players have old equipment and clothing with no use for it. Talk to other parents from your team as well as parents of kids in older Divisions to find second-hand (but often in good shape) equipment/clothing.

Additional expenses would include travel to/from practices and games. Also your child may be more inclined to request time in batting cages, bat upgrades (when they see "that bat that the other kid has"), and lots of sunflower seeds to chew. Finally, you should budget for the essential – ice cream, which years ago was reserved for only after games but somehow they beg for it after practices now too??

Regarding League Age

I see the chart and think I know the correct League Age, but...whaa?

Little League® speaks at length about their League Age concept. Learn more about that on their website.

Regarding the People

Who are the coaches? Who are the umpires? Who's running this organization?

The volunteers are Harborcreek residents like you. Learn more about volunteering for HCLL.

The Board of Directors meets monthly to discuss league business.

Regarding Locations

Where do we practice? Where do we play? Where else do things happen?

Practices and Home games happen at two parks for HCLL – "Slade" (Slade Park) and "Firman" (Community Park).

At both parks...

  • The sun is often in your eyes, so bring hats/sunglasses
  • Cool wind is common, so dress warmly (layers) and you might also bring a blanket
  • There are limited bleachers for seating; people bringing lawn chairs is common

Slade Park ("Slade")

Turn on to Slade Rd from Davison Rd, and the park is about .2 miles, on the left.

Turn on to Slade Rd from Moorheadville Rd, and the park is about 1.5 miles, on the right.

There is a concession stand here, which is where you could volunteer one time and recoup your Volunteer Fee paid at registration. Please contact Nick Gaston (email | 814/450-5808) for more information about this opportunity.

Community Park ("Firman")

Turn on to Clark Rd from Buffalo Rd, and the entrance is one mile, on the left.

Turn on to Firman Rd from Depot Rd, and the entrance is about 1.25 miles, on the right.

NOTE: The Little League division assignments (e.g., "Tee Ball", "Minors", etc.) on this map represent common field assignments, however things do change. Consult your team's coach and/or practice/game schedule on this website for accurate, up-to-date field assignments.
